On December 17, 2016, Apex for Youth celebrated the end of the year by hosting its annual youth Holiday Party at P.S. 1 and at LeFrak Center at Lakeside Prospect Park in Brooklyn! Early in the morning, our volunteers, mentors and high school mentees transformed the cafeteria with wall decor and set up activity stations for our elementary school children students. Stations included card making, face painting, bean bag toss, pop a shot, a photo booth, limbo and dancing to the beat of the music. Everybody had a blast, and students even took pictures with Santa!

After the party with the elementary school students, Apex staff and mentor and mentees who volunteered headed over to Lakeside Prospect Park to meet other middle school and high school mentor and mentees. Everyone changed into skates and took off around the ice skating rink. With illuminated holiday lights in the background and good music, the middle school and high school mentoring program ended the day with a lot of fun on the ice. This holiday event was by far the biggest one yet, and we can’t wait for 2017’s holiday party!

Thank you to all our volunteers who made the event a success, from setting up booths and supervising students to serving lunch. Special shout-out to corporate sponsor Estee Lauder Companies and its Asian American Group, for sponsoring our holiday party the second year in a row. Thank you to volunteers from New York Life, Baruch Ascend, the Asian American Affinity Roundtable and FF NY Lodge.
