We held our annual Volunteer Appreciation and Senior Graduation Dinner on Wednesday, June 8, to thank our volunteers for their dedication and service to our programs and youth, as well as bid adieu to our seniors. Last year marked our first year at Golden Unicorn; this year, we were able to have the entire floor to accommodate our 120+ dinner attendees!

In addition to recognizing all the volunteers from our various programs, we also gave special recognition to our Volunteers of the Year, those who have gone above and beyond to serve our community: Eileen, a longtime SAT volunteer; Larry, a high school mentor, basketball coach and Associate Board member (not an Apex overachiever at all); and Richard, a high school mentor who has gone above and beyond with his mentee. This year, we also recognized Ms. Chia, a teacher from our after school program, for her passion and dedication to the students in our after school program.

The annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is also where we present the winners for our Apex scholarship via the Norman C.T. Liu Scholarship Fund–funded by our Inspiration Award winner this year–and the John F. Lee Memorial fund. We officially send off our seniors to college with goody bags complete with Apex water bottles. Scholarship winner Helen and senior representative James gave great speeches as well!

Thanks again to all our volunteers for attending and allowing us to recognize you for the service you bring to our youth and community. Seniors–don’t forget to come back and visit often!
