High School Group Mentoring Program | Queens High School for Language Studies

As our Apex community grows, we are expanding our High School Mentoring Program into Flushing, Queens this spring. Through a series of workshops, the High School Mentoring Program helps students broaden their horizons, build a more positive self-image, develop strong interpersonal skills and cultivate valuable friendships. Students participate in social-emotional activities and workshops, as well as community events. Apex is looking forward to expanding its impact to the Flushing community.

About Queens High School for Language Studies

Students at Queens High School for Language Studies express high needs within the scope of Apex for Youth’s mission, including:

Queens HS for Language Studies focuses on preparing college-ready students who are fluent in both academic English and Mandarin Chinese. 50% of students are native-Chinese speakers learning English and 50% are English speakers learning Mandarin Chinese. Apex’s mentoring program will work with two cohorts of students: one that is Chinese-speaking and one that is English-speaking. We welcome both English- and Chinese-speaking volunteers!
